Chapter 2: The Regulation of Islamic Funds and Securities in the DIFC

This chapter examines the current scope of regulation of Islamic Funds and securities in or from the DIFC, the Dubai International Financial Centre a newly created international financial centre in the emirate of Dubai which was a vision in 2002 and became reality in 2004.

The chapter highlights the inherent strengths of the DIFC as a financial centre and as a Centre of Excellence for Islamic Finance, including its unique Shari’a Systems regulatory model, its Common Law legal system and closes by outlining some of the pioneering initiatives current underway and planned to grow the Islamic financial services industry.
